The major chemical constituents of Vasaka are its several alkaloids, and the chief one is Vasicine. Leaves are composed of major constituents which are Vasicine and Vasicinone. A large amount of Vitamin C is present in the leaves of Vasaka. They also have carotene and essential oil in large amounts. The roots of this plant contain Vasicinolone, Vasicol, Peganine, sitosterol.
