Hurhur, often known as Asian Spider Flower or tick weed, is an annual herb that grows up to one meter in height. It belongs to the Cleomaceae family. It's an invasive species that thrive in hot, humid climates across the Americas, Africa, and Asia. It's typical to observe it during the rainy season. It has antibiotic properties that are very effective in treating different types of wounds and ulcers.

Health Benefits of Hurhur (Cleome icosandra)

As per Ayurveda, Hurhur can be classified into two types- White Hurhur and Yellow Hurhur. Hur Hur is an effective remedy for breathlessness, bloating, anorexia, fever, eruption, leprosy, gonorrhea, vaginosis, urinary incontinence, edema, worms, colic, blood bile, worm disease, and Pandu Nasak. Its seeds are used for gastritis, colic, phlegm, and rheumatism. The leaves are applied to heal wounds and sores. The seeds have anthelmintic and carminative effects. Ear infections and pus discharge are treated using the juice of the leaves.
Yellow Hurhur is a firm, sharp, and pungent, erect, sticky herbaceous plant. Its seeds are dark brown to black and are rough, kidney-shaped.
