Introduction of Kirmala (Kirmani)

Kirmala is an aromatic, somewhat woody, Eurasian perennial herb growing chiefly in coastal areas or saline soil and having woolly leaves and racemose panicles of tiny heads of yellowish to reddish hermaphroditic flowers. Kirmala is a herb mentioned in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of pain, swelling, pinworms, alopecia, indigestion, fever, etc. As per Ayurveda, its taste is bitter and pungent, its qualities are hot, dry in nature, and light for digestion.it is an effective remedy to kill intestinal worms, reduces vitiated Kapha and Vata dosha.

Health Benefits of Kirmala (Kirmani)

Kirmala, also known as wormwood, is used mainly as a tonic to the digestive system, in treating intermittent fevers, and as a vermifuge. Wormwood is used for various digestion problems such as loss of appetite, upset stomach, gallbladder disease, and intestinal spasms. It also cures fever, liver disease, depression, muscle pain, memory loss, and worm infections. It is also considered as a tonic to increase sexual desire and to stimulate sweating. It is also used for parasitic infections such as roundworms, pinworms, tapeworms, hookworms, flukes and is used for the treatment of hepatitis, jaundice, malaria, and diabetes.

It possesses medicinal properties such as insecticidal, antibacterial, anticholesterolemic, antipyretic, antiseptic, Cholagogue, diuretic, purgative, and vasodilatory activities.
