It has been used in Ayurveda for the vitiation of the aggravated Pitta Dosha. This herb is used externally for Swelling, warts, ulcers, and bleeding wounds as it has both antifungal as well as antibacterial properties. You can also apply it to cracked lips, pimples, and acne. Internally it can be used in gonorrhea, bloody urine, loose stools, and jaundice. It is also effective for eliminating the intestinal worms, eliminating the symptoms of dysentery or diarrhea, soothing the gastrointestinal tract, restoring bowel movements, and reducing the discomfort or pain due to the altered bowel movements. The anti-inflammatory property of this herb makes it suitable for curing some respiratory-related symptoms such as sore throat, breathing difficulty, bronchial irritation, and chronic coughing.
