UC can be generally classified into four types
- Ulcerative proctitis
Ulcerative proctitis is a milder type of UC where the areas near the anus get inflammations and rectal bleeding is an important symptom of Ulcerative proctitis.
- Proctosigmoiditis
Abdominal cramps and pain, diarrhea, tenesmus, etc are the symptoms of Proctosigmoiditis. Here inflammations affect your rectum and the lower end of your colon.
- Left-sided colitis
Pain on the left side, the urgency to defecate, bloody diarrhea, weight loss, etc are the important symptoms of left-sided colitis. Here the pain mostly affects the left side of your belly.
- Pancolitis
Pancolitis affects the entire colon and major symptoms are belly pain and cramps, weight loss, fatigue, bloody diarrhea, etc.
Major four types of Ulcerative Colitis are Ulcerative proctitis, Proctosigmoiditis, Left-sided colitis, and Pancolitis.
