Introduction to Durva (Dhoob)
Dhoob grass is a popular grass species native to the Indian subcontinent. This grass is known by many different names, including "Indian Doob grass", "Durva", "Bermudagrass" and "Hariyali." This Ayurvedic herb is used to treat eye disorders, herpes, uterine disorders, convulsions, and other ailments. Ayurveda calls it Doorva or Durva.

Health Benefits of Durva (Dhoob)
Charaka refers to Durva grass as one of the 10 great complexion promoters. Durva grass has several medicinal uses for its numerous health benefits. It treats acidity, boosts immunity, controls sugar, cures PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome, solves menstrual problems, cures constipation, treats obesity, cures bleeding gums, treats eye infection, and stops nose bleeding. It is considered complexion-enhancing, astringent, moisturizing, demulcent, and cooling for the skin. Durva is also considered very good for the eyes and is therefore regarded as an ophthalmic drug. It also treats many skin disorders like psoriasis, eczema, and even pitta-induced skin conditions like prickly heat, etc.
The plant contains phytoconstituents like beta-carotene, carotene, vitamin C, palmitic acid, triterpenoids, arundoin, selem, etc. It has strong antiviral and antibacterial properties. Bermuda grass is loaded with potential antiseptic, astringent, cyano-genetic, demulcent, depurative, diuretic, and emollient activities. It is rich in nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, potash, potassium, sodium, manganese, protein, enzymes, carbohydrates, fiber, flavonoids, and alkaloids which augment several health benefits.
