As per Ayurveda lung health imbalance is caused by increase in Ama or toxins in the lungs. The major causes of increases ama in the lungs are:

  • Polluted air

    Toxin particles like smoke, dust, pollen, dirt circulating in the air enter the lungs while breathing and cause irritation and pollute the lungs.

  • Improper diet

    Eating too much oily, cold, heavy food that is difficult to break down or eating leftovers the next morning will destroy the digestive system.

  • Seasonal Changes

    Due to different temperatures and climates in each season our body functions differently. Especially seasons like autumn and early spring make us prone to respiratory problems.

  • Exercise

    If we are doing heavy exercises or not doing exercises is harmful to the lungs. Heavy lifting beyond your capacity causes strain on the lungs. But if you are skipping exercising reduces the oxygen intake capacity of your lungs.

  • Emotional grief

    If you are experiencing a lot of stress or grief it can also affect the lungs.
