Eladi Thailam And Eladi Kera Thailam

Eladi Thailam is an Ayurvedic medicated oil prepared with herbal paste, water, and sesame oil as the base. Eladi Thailam pacifies Vata Dosha and Kapha Dosha. This external massage oil helps to rejuvenate the skin and is also used as an oil for facial skin. It protects the skin from damage caused due to stress, unhealthy food, and pollution. It nourishes the skin and keeps it light and glowing. The oil has the power to detoxify skin and flush out excess water. This oil is considered one of the safest oils for regular massage. It is even suitable for infants also. It is an Ayurvedic treatment for acne and as well as Ayurvedic oil for skin glows. It can be used in scalp massage as well as in body massage. The medicinal properties of Eladi Thailam are Antipruritic, Demulcent, Anti-urticaria, and Anti-inflammatory properties.

Similarly, Eladi Kera Thailam is prepared using coconut oil as the base. Properties of both Thailams or oils are different due to changes in the base oil. If coconut oil is used in this preparation, then it is called Eladi Kera Thailam. All other ingredients are the same. Ingredients Of Eladi Thailam And Eladi Kera Thailam

The oil is a mixture of 28 pure herbs. Eladi Thailam pacifies Vata Dosha and Kapha Dosha. Eladi Kera Thailam also pacifies Pitta Dosha. The main ingredients are as follow:

Kalka Dravya

  • Elachi (Green Cardamom) – Elettaria Cardamom. .
  • Badi Elaichi (Black Cardamom or Nepal Cardamom) – Amomum Subulatum. .
  • Tuvaraka – Hydnocarpus Laurifolia. .
  • Kuth or Kushta (Indian Costus Root) – Saussurea Lappa. .
  • Priyangu flowers – Callicarpa Macrophylla.
  • Jatamansi (Spikenard) – Nardostachys Jatamansi.
  • Jaladhyamaka (Iruvale or Iruveli) – Coleus Zeylanicus.
  • Sprikka (Malabar Catmint) – Anisomeles Malabarica.
  • Choraka – Angelica Archangelica.
  • Dalchini (Cinnamon) – Cinnamomum Zeylanicum. .
  • Tagara – Valeriana Wallichii.
  • Sthauneya – Taxus Baccata.
  • Javitri (Mace) – Myristica fragrans. .
  • Hirabol (herabol myrrh) – Commiphora Myrrha. .
  • Shukti – Ostrea Edulis. .
  • Vyaghra nakha – capparis sepiaria.
  • Devdaru (Deodar Cedar or Himalayan Cedar) – Cedrus Deodara.
  • Agaru (Agarwood) – Aquilaria Agallocha. .
  • Kesar (Saffron) – Crocus sativus.
  • Keukand (Chanda) – Costus Speciosus. .
  • Guggulu – Commiphora mukul. .
  • Sal Tree (Devadhupa) – Shorea robusta. .
  • Salai Guggul (Shallaki) – Boswellia Serrata.
  • Punnaga (Sultan Champa) – Calophyllum inophyllum.
  • Nag Kesar – Mesua Ferrea.

Drava Dravya

  • Water.

Taila Dravya – Base Oil

  • Murchhita Tila Tail (Sesame Oil) – Oil of Sesamum Indicum or Coconut Oil.

Take all Kalka Dravya in powdered form and mix them in a small quantity of water to make an herbal paste. Now, mix Herbal paste, water, and Taila Dravya (either Sesame Oil or Coconut Oil) in a stainless steel vessel. Then, simmer the mixture until it remains the quantity of Taila Dravya and water content evaporates. Now, allow it to cool. Then filter the Eladi Thailam and discard the residues.

Eladi Kera Thailam

If coconut oil is used in this preparation, then it is called Eladi Kera Thailam. All other ingredients are the same. The method of preparation is the same as that of the method explained above.

Eladi Thailam is an Ayurvedic hair oil used for skin conditions. This oil is prepared with sesame oil as the base it is called Eladi Thailam. Similarly, when it is prepared with coconut oil as the base it is called Eladi Kera Thailam. Other ingredients are the same in both oils.
