Chitrakasavam Or Chitrakasava

Chitrakasava or Chitrakasavam is an ayurvedic formulation in liquid form. It contains 5-10 %alcohol. It is mainly used in treating leucoderma and other skin diseases. As per Ayurveda, Chitrakasavam is a suitable remedy to balance Kapha and pitta dosha.


Ingredients And Method Of Preparation Of Chitrakasavam

The ingredients present in Chitrakasavam are:

  • Gomutra (cow urine).
  • Chitraka (Plumbago zeylanica).
  • Vyosha (Trikatu)

    Trikatu herbs are the following

    • Shunti (Zingiber officinale).
    • Maricha(Piper nigrum).
    • Pippali (Piper longum).
  • Kshaudra (honey).

Chitrakasavam Preparation

All these ingredients along with water are taken in a vessel smeared with ghee. Left for fermentation for 15 days, then the contents are filtered.
