Burn symptoms vary depending on the severity or degree of the burn. Some of the symptoms and signs include:

Causes Of Burn Wounds
Different things can cause a burn wound. The most common causes of burns are Thermal sources, including fire, hot liquids, steam, and contact with hot surfaces. Other causes include:

- Electricity.
- Sun (ultraviolet or UV light).
Classification Of Burns
Depending on how deeply and severely they penetrate the skin surface it can be classified into:
- First-degree (superficial) burns. First-degree burns affect only the outer layer of skin, the epidermis. The burn site is red, painful, dry, and with no blisters. Long-term tissue damage is rare and often consists of an increase or decrease in skin color.
- Second-degree (partial thickness) burns. Second-degree burns involve the epidermis and part of the lower layer of skin, the dermis. The burn site looks red, blistered, and may be swollen and painful.
- Third-degree (full thickness) burns. Third-degree burns destroy the epidermis and dermis. They may go into the innermost layer of skin, the subcutaneous tissue. The burn site may look white or blackened and charred. .
- Fourth-degree burns. Fourth-degree burns go through both layers of the skin and underlying tissue as well as deeper tissue, possibly involving muscle and bone. There is no feeling in the area since the nerve endings are destroyed.
The main classifications of burn wounds are first degree, second degree, third degree, and fourth degree.
Herbal Remedies For Burn Wound
In Ayurveda, many plants are used for the treatment of healing burn wounds. Some of them are mentioned below:
- Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is the best medicine to treat Burn wounds. It has Ayurvedic properties like Seetha, Tikta, Madhura,Agni Dagdha Hara, Pittaraktahara, and Twagvikarahara. Aloe Vera is a burning plant. Aloe Vera is effective in healing first- to second-degree burns. Its anti-inflammatory properties promote circulation and inhibit the growth of bacteria. Aloe contains active compounds that may reduce pain and inflammation and stimulate skin growth and repair. It is also an effective moisturizing agent. - Yashtimadhu(Liquorice)

- Dadima (Punica granatum)

- Kadali (Musa paradisiaca)
Kadali is one of the most important medicinal plants used for the treatment of burn wounds. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties are effective for healing wounds. Ayurvedic properties are pittasrajit, dahanut, Seeta, and parts used for this plant are fruit, stem, flower, etc.
- Thulasi (Ocimum sanctum)
From ancient times onwards tulsi is used to protect against infection and treat wounds. Extracts made from its leaves are helpful to boost wound healing speed and strength. The anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties of Tulsi effectively treat burn wounds. The parts used are leaves, roots, and seeds. It has Tikta and Hrudaya Ayurvedic properties.
- Tila (Sesamum indicum)
Sesame seed oil is beneficial for the skin, and applying it to the face overnight makes skin soft and tightens it due to the presence of antioxidants. Its application also promotes wound healing due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Ayurvedic properties are Seeta, Twacya, and Vrananut.
- Himsra (Capparis spinosa)
Himsra leaf extract is used to heal burn wounds. Hydro-ethanolic extract of Capparis spinosa leaves and antioxidant compounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins are effective for treating most types of burn wounds.
