According to Ayurveda, Acne is known as 'Yuvana Pitaka'. The meaning of Yuvana Pitaka is boiled that affect the youth. Ayurveda says that the imbalances of Tridosha like Vata, Pitta, and Kapha cause Acne. Such a condition leads to the production of boils, mostly on the face.

Symptoms of Acne

General symptoms of acne are,

  • Whiteheads

    According to Ayurveda, imbalances of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha lead to skin disorders similarly Whiteheads also. The sores of the skin may be blocked due to bacteria, dead skin cells, oil, etc.

  • Blackheads

    Kapha imbalances lead to skin disorders, similarly Blackheads. Here one can see black pores on the skin. When Kapha is aggravated, excess oil will be produced and the oil clogs the pores and results in blackheads.

  • Pimples

    Pimples are forming due to the toxins (as a result of vitiated doshas) that block the pores.

  • Pustules

    Pustules are a painful form of Acne. Here the symptoms are small red and tender skin with pus at the tips.

  • Nodules

Causes of Acne or Pimples

  • Bacteria

    Bacterial infections are one of the main reasons for Acne. Propionibacterium acnes are a kind of bacteria that already exists in our skin. The clogged pores become infected with these bacteria which lead to inflammations on the skin.

  • Hormonal changes
